Lakhimpur rape-murder: Post mortem report shows extent of violence perpetrated on two minor girls

Two minor girls who were raped and murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri yesterday. The two minor girls from Dalit community, whose dead bodies were found hanging from a tree in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhmpur Kheri district, have been buried following their post-mortem examination.

The post-mortem report accessed by Gaon Connection has revealed that the cause of death was strangulation following which their bodies were hung from the tree.

“Death is by asphyxia as result of ante-mortem [prior to death] strangulation,” the autopsy report mentioned. The report also mentions that both the lungs of the victims were found to be congested and exuded dark fluid blood and there were ligature mark present on all around neck and abrasion marks on the arms of the victims.

“A total of six accused have been arrested. Yesterday, these two girls were cajoled into a field where we suspect that they were raped and murdered. We cannot divulge minute details as of now as the primary investigation is still underway and the post-mortem report is awaited. A total of six accused have been arrested so far,” Sanjiv Suman, Superintendent of Police, told the press today, on September 15.

It is learnt that the six accused who are arrested are charged under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012 and one of the accused has been nabbed following an encounter in which he was shot at in the leg.

Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak has assured strict action against the accused. “The government will take such an action that the souls of their coming generations will also shiver. Justice will be given,” he was quoted.
